Ivanov¢¥s Symptom in Appendicitis

Abstract
Ivanov (1928) reported that naval-spinal line in acute appendicitis that connects umbilicus and anterior superior iliac spine is shorter in the right and side in chronic appendicitis the reverse is true.
This report deals 73 cases of acute appendicitis between April, 1968 to August, 1968. and clinical analysis was performed to Ivanov¢¥s symptom.
1) In the normal the length of naval-spinal line is almost same and sometimes it declines to one side.
2) In acute appendicitis, the naval-spinal line is shorter in the right and in chronic form is the reverse.
3) When spinal anethesia was done, abdominal muscle was completely relaxed.
so that the length of both naval-spinal line becomes similar.
4) The relationship among the length of both naval-spinal line, initial WBC count and appendical biopsy is approximately the same as follow.
